A Swollen Knee is a
Warning Sign for Arthritis

Three natural products clinically-proven for relief

A swollen knee making it difficult to bend or straighten the joint is one of the warning signs of osteoarthritis. If not treated, knee arthritis can lead to disability. Three safe natural products are clinically-

proven for pain and symptom relief.  Glucosamine and boswellia have been used for centuries to aid knee pain and discomfort.  They are natural substances without the side effects of pharmaceuticals.

Whether your knee swelling is caused by arthritis or other factors, pain announces a warning and should not be ignored.

Millions of Americans are now exploring plant-based alternatives for pain relief that safely shut the door on harmful side effects from pharmaceutical drugs. Natural products protect your health and won't tear it down. People are drawn to benefits that include a healthier, restored quality of life.

Dietary supplementation is more prevalent among adults with arthritis in the United States population (62.5 percent) compared to 49.0 percent of adults without arthritis who used supplements, according to a recent study. Of the study participants with arthritis that included knee arthritis, 15 percent indicated at least one of their supplements was for "healthy joints, arthritis". The study was published December 2016 in the journal Complementary Therapies in Medicine.

Warning signs for possible knee osteoarthritis

A swollen knee may be a sign of arthritis. Symptom examples of osteoarthritis include:

  1. Steady or intermittent pain in a knee joint, especially upon movement.
  2. Knee stiffness after getting up in the morning, or after driving for a long time.
  3. Pain and difficulty when going up and down stairs.
  4. Knee locking, buckling, or catching. A crunching feeling, or the sound of bone rubbing on bone.
  5. Weakened thigh muscles.
  6. Weather changes that increase the degree of knee pain.
  7. Knee pain? Not always.
  8. Hot, red, or tender? Probably not osteoarthritis.
Check with your doctor about other causes, such as rheumatoid arthritis.

X-rays necessary to determine if swollen knee is arthritis

Only a qualified medical doctor can diagnose if a swollen knee is arthritis. There are over 100 types of arthritis.

Usually, knee arthritis comes on slowly. In fact, only one-third of people whose x-rays show evidence of osteoarthritis report pain or other symptoms. Often pain symptoms of arthritis are not noticed as much until age 45 and older.

Knee swelling is generally accompanied by pain that can range from a dull ache to fairly intense.

Typical drug treatment for swollen knee

Pain relief for a swollen knee is possible. Most doctors will prescribe a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) as medication to reduce pain and reduce inflammation of the knee joint.

These can include aspirin, acetaminophen, ibuprofen or naproxen contained in over-the-counter (OTC) preparations. Each of these drugs have potential side effects, including gastrointestinal bleeding and ulcers.

Nonetheless, these pain relievers are usually the first choice of drug therapy for a swollen knee caused by arthritis. Prescription drugs, such as Celebrex, may also be prescribed for moderate to severe pain, yet natural glucosamine was proven in studies as most effective for moderate to severe pain as well..

Natural dietary supplement treatment for swollen knee without harmful side effects

If your swollen knee pain is moderate to severe and you’re worried about health risks from long-term use pf pharmaceutical painkillers, you may want to try the natural dietary supplement, glucosmine hydrochloride, according to a 2006 government-funded study.  Pain relief is similar to that from the drug,

Celebrex, but without its harmful side effects

The Glucosamine/chondroitin Arthritis Intervention (GAIT) study, published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) in February, 2006, suggested that glucosamine hydrochloride (HCL) and chondroitin sulfate provide significant pain relief for people with moderate to severe pain from knee osteoarthritis. The study was sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

How to find the best glucosamine supplement company

The supplement industry is now a $36 billion mushrooming entity and increasing numbers of arthritis sufferers are turning to natural products for relief.

To help me find the best dietary supplements in this crowded market, I first prepared a list of 30 questions

to measure the standards of excellence in different supplement manufacturers.

The answers led me to the #1 natural nutrition company in America, founded in 1956--a leader in the natural nutrition industry. The science behind each of their products is second to none.

They've invested more than $250 million in clinical testing, research and development and have over 135 published studies, 100 of which in peer-reviewed scientific journals--more than any other nutritional company! This company has voluntarily operated at quality and purity standards as if regulated the same as a pharmaceutical company, which I think is a testament to its integrity. The regulations governing the supplement industry are considered by many critics as weak and lax and do not require product efficacy.

In 2003, they introduced a well-studied and efficacy-proven pain relief program consisting of three natural products (two oral dietary supplements and one topical pain relief cream). We haven't found anything of better quality anywhere for our neck, knee and shoulder pain relief.

Knee pain relief achieved totally naturally

You may know from other pages on this site that my husband and I both have osteoarthritis. Mine is neck arthritis and my husband’s was in both knees as a result of sports-related injuries, and in his right shoulder. He is personally most familiar with the results of using natural dietary supplements for a swollen knee and arthritis knee pain relief.

Up until 2003, my husband's regimen for many years for control of knee swelling, stiffness, aching and sharp pain was the over-the-counter drugs ibuprofen (Advil) and acetaminophen (Tylenol). While these drugs were somewhat helpful, he often exceeded the recommended dosages, especially on days when he played tennis. Even with these drugs, I have seen his swollen knee symptoms so severe that he could barely get in and out of the car. He had problems getting up and down stairs and extreme knee stiffness after prolonged sitting.

After he began using the featured manufacturer's natural knee pain relief program (scroll the linked page for My Arthritis Story, too) in earnest in 2004, he had had remarkable improvement on a gradual basis, allowing him to continue to play tennis for 12 more years thereafter without further surgery..
